Letters / Perfectly reasonable decision
It should probably have come as no surprise that SSE should choose to appeal the planning committee decisions about the batching plants.
They quite simply won’t take no for an answer and such is their power and influence, it is very likely that they will ultimately get their way.
The fact remains that these batching plant applications were an afterthought which will cause yet more peat disturbance. As the objectors to the applications also pointed out there is no power or water at their chosen locations.
It has been evident in recent weeks that pours for bases have been undertaken in the Scallafield area from the North batching plants so it is clear that a change in location for the batching plants is not essential for their plans.
It might have been a better public relations approach just to accept the perfectly reasonable decision of the local planning committee.
