Unwillingness to be political?

Cllr Sandison’s fatuous response to resolving the teacher’s strike on BBC Radio Shetland this week was laughable. Does he support the striking teachers or not? Yet another example of SIC councillors’, but four, unwillingness or inability to be political, party or not.

He stated they had no role in the teachers’ pay negotiations then went on to say he sits on COSLA’s committee for children and families plus his colleague, the council leader, also sits on COSLA.

In his defence, the final settlement is dependent on the Scottish Government having the cash to meet any settlement. They may not have this, given ongoing paltry sentiment from Westminster.

Yet another reason for Scottish autonomy, the SNP’s ability to govern aside.
