Business / Sound Service Station owners set to bid farewell

LERWICK business Sound Service Station is set to change hands soon as its owners get ready to move on.

Jordan and Gemma Thomason bought the shop in 2016, and the business has grown to host a workforce of 40.

They expect that they are now heading into their last week at the helm as they seek to spend more quality time with family and friends, with new owners lined up to take over.

In a Facebook post they wrote: “It’s going to be a bit emotional saying goodbye, but we are very proud of all of our achievements with the business and to say we have been owners of Sound Service Station.”

The couple added that the business has only grown because of the custom from shoppers, “and being so close to a major supermarket, we still cannot believe so many people choose to come and shop with us”.

The Thomasons also sought to thank the many staff, as well as suppliers.

The pair previously said they will continue with their Sound Butchers and Shetland Biltong ventures. There are now more than 20 staff members at the butchers, which opened its own premises in 2021.

It is understood the new Sound Service Station owners will introduce themselves when the takeover is completed.
