Emergency services / Controlled explosion carried out on WW2 artillery shell found during metal detecting
A BOMB disposal team was in Shetland on Wednesday to deal with a WW2 artillery found during a metal detecting session.
A controlled explosion was carried out in the Voxter area in the morning.
Barry Smith and his grandson Hunter Kelsey, aged 10, came across the shell last week. Barry re-covered it and informed the police.
The pair were allowed to watch the controlled explosion from a safe distance.
The video below was supplied by Police Scotland.
