Impressive minister

We were privileged to receive a visit today (Wednesday) from Richard Lochhead, minister for small business, innovation, tourism and trade.

All of his areas of responsibility are of critical importance to Shetland, and the North Isles in particular.

I am not usually impressed by politicians, and have no political allegiance, but I have to say that Mr Lochhead was enormously impressive. His mastery of a very complex and wide-ranging brief was extraordinary. He was also prepared to listen to and understand local concerns.

We are grateful that he took the time to visit Yell, and hope that he returns on a regular basis.
