Service Technician

Operating within the Northern & West Europe business unit of Vestas Wind Systems A/S, Vestas Celtic focuses exclusively on selling, constructing, and operating onshore wind power plants in UK and Ireland. With offices in Warrington and Dublin, the service department looks after the servicing and maintenance of wind turbines in the UK and Ireland. Vestas Celtic is synonymous with professionalism, innovation, and the capability of providing robust business solutions for our customers. We are looking for one Service Technician to join our team, carrying out maintenance and troubleshooting, including blade inspection and repairs of the wind farms near Shetland Service Hub area.

 

Responsibilities

As Service Technician your primary tasks will be:

  • You will develop a detailed knowledge of our wind turbines to enable you to perform daily maintenance and repairs and other field service-related tasks
  • Carrying out periodic service inspections following Vestas’s specifications together with component replacement (both electrical and mechanical) and troubleshooting the systems
  • Work with both the other technicians and supervisors in the field, whilst also having regular contact with the office-based staff

 

Qualifications

  • Experience from a mechanical, electrical, or hydraulics background within a similar industry. Electrical background is advantageous.
  • A proven solid fault-finding ability
  • Full, clean driving licence
  • A good level of computer literacy used to software, apps, and related tools
  • Fluency in English is required

Additional information

This role will operate from our service base in Shetland.

This is a regional-based role and so travel throughout the region is to be expected. You should live in the Shetland Islands. You may also be asked to support other regions if required by the business.
