Council / Kergord road to be closed for two months
THE Sandwater to Kergord Road will be closed for two months from the middle of May to allow Scottish and Southern Energy Networks (SSEN) to lay an underground cable.
Shetland Islands Council confirmed on Tuesday that the B9075 will be closed from 14 May to 18 July.
The road will be excavated over a stretch of approximately 400 metre near Sand Water.
A spokesperson for the SIC said that access to local properties in Kergord and Upper Kergord will be possible throughout the closure period.
“An alternative route exists for traffic in both directions via the A970, the unclassified Stromfirth Road, the A971 and the B9075,” he added.
