Electrician

D H Marine (Shetland) has a vacancy for a time-served electrical technician.

Applicants must be qualified to SVQ level 3 and skilled in carrying out electrical works out in marine and industrial settings in accordance with BS 7671 covering the Requirements for Electrical Installations IET Wiring Regulations.

Typical duties include:

• New installations of electrical equipment, cable and containment
• Electrical modifications and upgrades
• Fault finding, diagnosis and repairs as necessary
• Planned and preventative maintenance
• Condition surveys

Requirements of electrical technician role:

• Ensuring electrical equipment and systems function correctly and remains safe to use
• Appropriate selection, use and care for tools and equipment, ensuing where applicable such equipment is within its calibration period
• Work safely at all times, acknowledging you have a duty of care to yourself, your colleagues and anybody else who may be harmed by your actions
• Periodically provide 24/7 on-call cover for customer breakdowns
• Support and guide apprentices where necessary
• Carry out other electrical and general duties as instructed by the Electrical Supervisor
• DESIRABLE – ATEX competent for EX inspection and installation
• DESIRABLE – Approved Electrician (SECTT / ACA)
