Fixed Term 12-month Maternity Cover
We have an exciting opportunity for a Freight Coordinator to join our logistics team at our Shetland depot.
This would be a Fixed Term Maternity Cover for up to 12 months with the possibility of extension.
Our Freight Coordinators play a key role in supporting our logistics operations and ensuring exceptional customer service.
Key tasks and responsibilities:
- Creating and managing bookings in the traffic management system, ensuring timely and accurate processing
- Planning and routing deliveries, optimising efficiency and cost-effectiveness
- Providing clear and concise instruction to drivers and warehouse staff
- Monitoring delivery runs and keeping track of delivery timescales through live tracking system
- Preparing relevant shipping documentation, including invoices, purchase orders and proof of delivery notes
- Updating the traffic management system with shipment tracking information and maintaining accurate proof of delivery documentation
- Maintaining regular communication with drivers about delivery times and updating customers
- Communicating and working effectively with colleagues across our internal depot network to provide updates on the movement of freight
- Assisting in resolving any transportation issues that may arise
- Coordinating local vehicle and plant hire
- Using Microsoft Word and Excel for data entry and reporting purposes
- Ensuring efficient operations by adhering to operational procedures, protocols and schedules
- Adhering to company health and safety regulations and standards
Skills and Requirements:
- A basic understanding of distribution planning principles and vehicle capacities
- Excellent organisational skills with the ability to prioritise workload effectively
- Strong problem-solving skills with a proactive approach
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Working knowledge of the Microsoft Office Suite (Word and Excel)
- Meticulous attention to detail and a commitment to accuracy
- Ability and willingness to learn and adapt to working with new systems
- Working knowledge of health and safety practices and principles.
- Good geographical knowledge of Shetland
