UHI Shetland is looking for a motivated part-time Cafeteria Assistant to work within our Briggistane’s Café, 40 weeks per year on a term-time only basis. The anticipated working hours are between 8.30am and 3pm Monday to Friday to cover the busy lunch period although we are happy to negotiable working hours up to 30 hours per week.

The preferred candidate must deliver a customer focussed service as part of a small team and support the preparation of meals and snacks to students, staff and visitors. It would be beneficial for the Cafeteria Assistant to be confident in handling cash and operating of tills and card machines, but support and training will be provided.

Please note the starting salary for a 30 hour per week term time only appointment is £19,183.12 plus £2,281.48 distant Islands allowance (before deductions) for working 40 weeks per year inclusive of proportionate holiday entitlement. The annual salary is divided into 12 equal monthly instalments paid in arrears by direct credit transfer.

The successful candidate should demonstrate a customer focussed approach and will ideally have some experience in a service industry or similar environment. The successful candidate must also be able to demonstrate a good level of competency in Maths or English and will be required to obtain a Basic Food Hygiene certificate if they do not already possess one.
