News / Youth parliament’s coming
AROUND 150 young politicians and their officials will arrive in Lerwick off the NorthLink ferry on Saturday morning for the Scottish Youth Parliament’s first ever sitting in Shetland.
The parliament will occupy Lerwick Town Hall for the weekend with workshops and breakout sessions also taking place in Islesburgh Community Centre.
There are two MSYPs representing each of the 73 Scottish Parliament’s constituencies, with Shetland represented by Kaylee Mouat and Catherine Hannah.
“Kaylee and I, the two MSYPs for Shetland, are both very excited for this sitting to be held in Shetland.” Hannah said.
“This is a great occasion for all of our fellow MSYPs because Shetland has a very different setting and atmosphere compared to other places where previous sittings have been held. Shetland is a very unique place, with its own needs.”
