SHETLAND will take on rivals Orkney in the annual mixed hockey inter-county in Brae this Saturday.
Passback is at 2pm as the two sides meet for the 13th time in the annual fixture, facing off for the Joan Nicolson cup.
Orkney are the current holders, though Shetland have 10 wins in the 12 meetings so far.
Teams consist of five females and five males, together with a GK, and there will be rolling subs throughout the game.
Penalty flicks will follow if it is a draw after four 17.5 minute quarters.
The Shetland team will be lead out by captain Reece Thorne and vice-Captain Janetta Williamson.
Commentary and livestream will be available on the Shetland Hockey Association Facebook page by Danny Peterson.
Shetland coach Jill Hibbert said they are hoping for a good turnout in Brae for the game, which she added would be a great boost for the blues.
She thanked Ian Irvine Engineering for their continued sponsorship.
THE SHETLAND women’s football team are through to the Highlands and Islands League Cup final after thrashing Sutherland in Golspie.
Heading into the second leg on Sunday with a 3-0 aggregate lead, the blues won 10-1 yesterday to ease into a second consecutive final.
The club is now appealing for sponsors to help the team prepare for its Scottish Cup second preliminary round tie this weekend.
The team are due to play their annual inter-county match against Orkney on Saturday before travelling down to Aberdeen to face Aberdeen West End at 12.45pm on Sunday.
Shetland Women’s FC said they were seeking match sponsors “who would like to support the team in their busy away schedule and be a part of the journey the club is on.”

THE FINAL games in the Simpson Pairs bowls league were full of drama and ended with only one point separating the top four teams after all 14 games were played.
Scott Uren (sub for Ian Scott) and Gibbie Pottinger had a very close game against John Jarmson and Caroline Smith, drawing three shots close to the jack at the end to win 16-12.
Ann Napier and Ian Leiper (sub for Rosie Jamieson) came from behind 9-5 down to win the remaining five ends convincingly and earn a 19-9 win.
However, it was a loss to Billy Hay and Bob Brandie (sub for Eric Muir) by Anne Robertson and Alan Smith (sub for Alex Elphinstone) that determined the final outcome of the league.
Robertson and Smith were leading 13-12 right up to the final end when Brandie and Hay delivered three shots closer to the jack to win 15-13.
That means this year’s trophy winners are the new pairing of Ian Scott and Gibbie Pottinger, who top the table with 19 points. They were just ahead of the next three teams all on 18 points with only shot difference separating them.
HOT Geckos and Venture Globetrotters kickstarted the mixed volleyball league with victories last week.
Geckos overcame Rexel 3-0, racing into an early lead after comprehensively winning set one 25-7.
Set two was far closer, ending 25-23, but Geckos remained on top to take the final set 25-10 and clinch an opening victory.
Benchwarmers took the lead in their game against Venture Globetrotters, winning set one 25-10.
But the Globetrotters turned the tie in their favour by levelling the game with a 25-23 win in set two, before a final set victory of 25-18 helped them take the points.
