DELTING will pay tribute to former player and manager Peter Peterson with a minute’s silence before their match against Thistle tonight (Monday).
The mark of respect will be paid before the Madrid Cup fixture at Seafield, which kicks off at 6.30pm.
Peter Peterson was an iconic figure for the club, winning countless trophies during a period of unprecedented success across the 2000s.
Madrid Cup champions Ness start their cup defence away to Scalloway tonight, while Lerwick rivals Celtic and Spurs meet at Gilbertson Park.
Whitedale host Highland Amateur Cup finalists Whalsay at Strom in the other fixture.
SOUTHSIDE Impact continued their march towards a potential unbeaten Championship season with a derby win over Ness C on Saturday night.
The Sandwick side overcame their nearest rivals 3-1 to make it 10 league games without defeat this season.
Newcomers Rusty Spoons continued their superb debut season by leapfrogging Ness into second, after beating league champions North Isles 4-3 at the weekend.
They remain nine points behind Southside, but will hope to reel them in during the second half of the season.
A TOTAL of 36 bowlers turned up at the Lerwick bowling green on Saturday to contest the Lerwick Distillery trophy.
Players were divided into four groups and played two 10-end games of triples, with the top four teams of three going into the semi-finals.
In the first semi-final, Donald Campbell, John Best and Gordon Stevenson gained an 11-4 victory over Caroline Smith, Bill Christey and Robert Brandie to make the final.
The second semi-final was much closer with Alan Smith, Ronnie Gair and Scott Uren beating Alex Elphinstone, Sandy Chalmers and Rosie Jamieson 9-7.
The 10-end final was an excellent, close-fought match, going to the last end to decided the winners.
Stevenson rolled back the years and played a superb draw which was not beaten, helping his team to an 11-10 victory.
Lerwick Outdoor Bowling Club thanked Lerwick Distillery for their cash prizes and to all who provided and served the buffet lunch.
IAN Scott and Gibbie Pottinger have jumped to top spot in the Simpson Pairs bowls league following their convincing win over Jim Wood and Margaret Robertson this week.
The pair won 27-4 to move to the top of the pile with just two weeks of the league left.
Eric Muir and Billy Hay lost by a single shot against Bill Christey and Norman Manson, going down 11-10, which means Muir and Hay are now one point behind Scott and Pottinger.
They are also equal on points with Elphinstone and Robertson, who also lost a very close game against Ann Napier and Rosie Jamieson 15-14.
John Jarmson and Alan Smith (substitute for Caroline Smith) won 28-9 against Gordon Stevenson and Jean Jarmson.
