SATURDAY’S Fraser Cup final between Lerwick and Whalsay was postponed due to a bereavement in the footballing community.
No date has been given yet for the rearranged fixture.
FOOTBALLER Lori Smith donned the Scotland kit again this weekend to represent her country against Wales.
Smith played the full 90 minutes as the Scotland under-17 girls’ squad saw off Wales 3-0 at the University of Stirling on Sunday.
The teenager became the first Shetland girls’ player to represent Scotland last year, earning a call-up to the under-15s side to face the same opponent.
LEADERS Celtic B consolidated their place at the top of the DITT reserve league after a big win over Ness B on Monday night.
Keiran Jamieson scored a hat-trick against his old club as Celtic won 7-1, with Jordan Thomason, Frankie Tait, Koby Sinclair and Kennedy Moar also on the scoresheet.
Nearest contenders Whalsay B were not in action on Monday, with their game against Delting postponed.
Champions Whitedale B beat Scalloway B 3-1 to keep their faint title hopes alive, while two goals from Zak Carroll ensured Spurs B saw off town rivals Thistle B 2-0.
Attentions turn to the Jewson Championship this weekend, with no A league fixtures due to the senior football inter-county on Saturday.
League leaders Southside Impact host Wastside Rebels in Sandwick on Wednesday before welcoming Bressay Sharks to Boddam on Saturday night.
Elsewhere Ness C will make the long journey to Mid Yell to play North Isles on Friday night, and Delting B host Rusty Spoons.
Boca Seniors will make the journey west on Saturday night to face Wastside Rebels.
ALEX ELPHINSTONE and Anne Robertson remain top of the Simpson pairs bowls league after a 18-11 win over John Jarmson and Catherine Robertson (sub for Caroline Smith).
Ann Napier and Rosie Jamieson’s 19-12 win over Ian Scott and Gibbie Pottinger means that Eric Muir and Billy Hay have now moved up to second place.
With just four weeks remaining, it remains tight at the top and each of the leading four teams could go on to win the league.
