FANS of the Shetland crime drama can now get a taste of the upcoming new series after a trailer was released by the BBC.

It comes ahead of the first episode of series 11 airing on BBC One next Thursday (12 November).

The trailer can be viewed here.

The new six-part series of Shetland, starring Ashley Jensen and Alison O’Donnell as DI Calder and DI Tosh, centres on a historic murder which will “forever change the lives of those connected in the present day”.

The BBC said that as “hidden secrets are stirred up from a watery grave, the ripple effects are felt in the community and beyond”.

The team makes a grim discovery when a car is dredged from the water and skeletal remains of an unknown male are found in the boot.

The car belongs to Dr Raymond Linden, a respected local GP who fled the isles nine years ago. Then unfolds an investigation to track down Dr Linden and uncover the victim’s identity.

The guest cast features names like Gregor Fisher, Christine Bottomley and Gavin Mitchell.

O’Donnell revealed to the BBC that Tosh will have a “memorable exit” from the series, with the actor due to bow out from the show after being involved from the start.
