Arts / Take a first look at new Shetland series
A TRAILER for the first episode of the new series of crime drama Shetland has been released.
The episode will air on BBC One on Wednesday 10 August to open a new six-part series.
The programme will see DI Jimmy Perez reunite with his colleagues to investigate the mysterious disappearance of a vulnerable young man.
It will kick off the show’s seventh series – and the last with lead actor Douglas Henshall, who plays Perez.
Despite Henshall calling time on his role, an eighth series is due to film in 2023.
It comes after VisitScotland’s local development manager Steve Mathieson said another series was “wonderful news”.
The drama’s impact on tourism to Shetland is well known, and Mathieson said “visitors are still making enquiries about Shetland locations every single day in the Lerwick Tourist Centre”.
