AN UPCOMING episode of TV series Gone Fishing in which British comedy legends Bob Mortimer and Paul Whitehouse visit Shetland is set to hit screens soon.

The pair were in Shetland filming last year at locations such as the Minn Beach in Burra and Scalloway.

The wait to watch their Shetland escapades will soon be over.

The upcoming series of Gone Fishing will kick off on 25 October on BBC Two. Shetland will feature in the third episode, named Trout and Pollock.

However it appears those watching on BBC iPlayer may be able to view all six episodes of the series on 25 October, with those tuning in on TV instead having to wait a few weeks – with a broadcast date set for 8 November.

The blurb for the episode says: “Paul and Bob venture to the northernmost reaches of the UK – Shetland – to fish the lochs and the seas of this remote and beautiful place for trout and pollock.

“Shetland is an archipelago of about 100 islands off the north east coast of Scotland, only around 15 of which are inhabited. It feels like they have entered a very different world – and it’s full of surprises for both of them.”

A trailer for the ninth series, which can be viewed below, includes a shot of Mortimer and Whitehouse cycling through Burra.

The popular BBC series, which was first broadcast in 2018, sees Mortimer and Whitehouse go on fishing trips around the UK.

Set against the background of the pair having had prior heart issues, the show has been praised for its warm humour and gentle nature, with a reviewer once calling it “one of the most therapeutic and relaxing [programmes] on television”.
