Court / Motorists fined
A YOUNG man from Gott was handed a £400 fine plus five penalty points after pleading guilty by letter at Lerwick Sheriff Court on Wednesday to a charge of dangerous driving.
Twenty two year old Callum Fraser admitted overtaking a number of vehicles at a blind summit and into oncoming traffic on the A970 just north of Lerwick.
The offence took place on 22 February during a period of high winds and with a weather warning in place.
Meanwhile, a 25-year-old driver was fined £200 after admitting reversing twice into a parked vehicle without noticing at the Tesco car park in Lerwick on 21 August.
Pleading guilty by letter, Adam Evans, of the town’s Nederdale, told Lerwick Sheriff Court that he did not realise he had struck another vehicle when reversing from a parking bay.
