Paid for contentCrime drama scenes to be filmed in Hillswick and Lerwick
FILMING for the next instalment of the popular Shetland crime drama series will focus on Hillswick on Friday before moving to Lerwick on Sunday.
The production team behind Shetland XI advise that there will be traffic restrictions outside the St Magnus Bay Hotel, in Hillswick, between 8am and 6pm tomorrow (Friday).
Assistant location manager Andy ‘Mod’ Ross said: “There will be a Stop/Go traffic hold in place for short periods to allow the safe filming of action vehicles driving into the hotel car park.
“Vehicles may be asked to stop very briefly to allow this action sequence to happen.
“We may also utilise Stop/Go to manage traffic around some of our production vehicles that will be parked at the side of the road.
“The production is aware that this is a bus route and will look to prioritise the bus service at all times.”
Then on Sunday (17 May) filming will take place at several locations in Lerwick with traffic restrictions in place as follows:
- A Stop/Go traffic hold will be in place for short periods between 7.30am and 12 midday on Burnside and Norstane to allow the safe filming of action vehicles driving into the small car park adjacent to the property at 30 Norstane.
Vehicles may be asked to stop very briefly to allow this action sequence to happen. Holds will be kept short and to a minimum. - There will be a Stop/Go traffic hold in place for short periods to allow the safe filming of action vehicles driving into the car park outside the offices of Hjaltland Housing Association at Mitchell’s Road, North Ness Business Park, between 8am and 6pm.
Vehicles may be asked to stop very briefly to allow this action sequence to happen. - Several parking restrictions will be in place on King Erik Street & St Olaf Street to facilitate the parking of production vehicles whilst filming takes place at Lerwick Sheriff Court, between 8am and 6.30pm.
Stop/Go traffic holds may be in place to allow the safe filming of exterior scenes. These holds will be kept to an absolute minimum, and traffic will be allowed to flow freely as much as possible.
