Paid for contentCrime drama filming to focus on area near Mavis Grind

MOTORISTS are asked to expect minor hold-ups on the main A970 between Mavis Grind and Islesburgh this coming week as filming for the next instalment of the popular crime drama series Shetland continues.

The production team will be working in the area from Monday (18 May) until the following Monday inclusive.

Assistant location manager Andy ‘Mod’ Ross said: “There will be a Stop/Go traffic hold in place for short periods to allow the safe filming of action vehicles driving into the filming location.

“Vehicles may be asked to stop very briefly to allow this action sequence to happen.

“These holds will be very sparse throughout the dates mentioned, and on some days may not be required at all.”

He added that the team is aware that this is an arterial route in Shetland and will therefore minimise holds as much as possible.

There will also be some parking restrictions in place at Mavis Grind to enable the team to park their production vehicles.

See the map below for more information.

In addition, there will also some action scenes being shot on the B9071 adjacent to the Voe marina at Lower Voe on Monday (18 May) between 7.30am and 1pm.

There will be a Stop/Go traffic hold in place for short periods to allow the safe filming of action vehicles driving into the marina. Vehicles may be asked to stop very briefly to allow this action sequence to happen.

Ross added: “We may also utilise Stop/Go to manage traffic around some of our production vehicles that will be parked at the side of the road. The production will endeavour to minimise all traffic holds.”

See the map below for more information.
