Paid for contentEshaness pier in the centre of the Shetland action

Filming scenes for the upcoming Shetland XI BBC crime drama will focus on Eshaness this coming week with a closure of Eshaness pier and its access road on four consecutive afternoons and evenings.

There will also be some disruptions to traffic on the B9078 between Braewick Café and West Heogaland on Tuesday.

Details:

  • Monday 11 May to Thursday 14 May – Eshaness pier and access road closed daily from 4.30pm to 1.30am;
  • Tuesday 12 May – A stop/go traffic hold B9078 between Braewick Café and the West Heogaland junction from 2.30 to 11.30pm;
  • Friday 15 May – Eshaness pier and access road will reopen as soon as heavy equipment has left the pier.

Location manager Andy (Mod) Ross said: “A road closure will be positioned at the end of the access road to Eshaness Pier, at the junction with the B9078 in order to safely film scenes of ‘action vehicles’ travelling on the road and to allow the control of traffic up and down the single track road.

“Residents, their visitors and deliveries will be facilitated.”

With regards to the disruptions expected for Tuesday on the B9078 nearby, he added: “There will be a stop/go traffic hold in place for short periods to allow the safe filming of action vehicles on this stretch of road.

“Vehicles may be asked to stop for a few minutes to allow us to clear the road of crew and safely land a drone.”

On Sunday (17 May) the production team will be filming in Lerwick at several locations. Details including maps will be published later in the week.
