Work on the next Shetland crime drama continues
FILMING for the next series of the popular Shetland crime drama (Shetland XI) have continued over recent weeks with the action now set to move to Lerwick on Friday and then on to the southend.
On Friday (19 June) several parking restrictions will be in place at the Hillhead, Lower Hillhead and St Olaf Street between 1pm and 6pm.
This is to facilitate the parking of production vehicles and maintain continuity for shot, whilst filming take place at 12 Hillhead.
Location manager Andy ‘Mod’ Ross said: “Stop/Go traffic holds may be in place to allow the safe filming of exterior scenes.
“These holds will be kept to an absolute minimum and traffic will be allowed to flow freely as much as possible.”
Please see maps below for more information.
Later on Friday, the production team’s unit base will be parked in a section of the Sumburgh Airport car park until the evening of Monday (22 June).
The location manager said: “It would be very much appreciated if all vehicles can be moved from the area marked in blue on the corresponding map before Friday 19 June.”
Please see map below for more information.
On Saturday, filming will take place on the unclassified road beyond the Quendale Mill, between 8am and 12 midday.
Ross said: “If required, we may implement a Stop/Go traffic hold on the road beyond Quendale Mill in order to allow us to film scenes safely at our filming location. Holds will be very brief and kept to a minimum.
“We please ask that the layby near the beach access point be kept clear for filming.”
Please see map below for more information.
Also on Saturday, the team will be filming exterior and interior scenes at Sumburgh Airport between 11am and 6pm.
Ross said: “We will film scenes of an action vehicles with blue flashing lights arriving outside the terminal. Traffic may be asked to hold very briefly for each take.”
He added that while filming scenes inside the terminal building the team will not impede passengers arriving or departing, as most filming will take place after the last flight of the day.
