Be sure to have travel insurance when flying with Loganair
Despite charging more per kilometre than virtually any other airline in the world, Loganair has now resorted to even more dastardly ways to fleece you.
If your flight is cancelled or baggage lost, or you have any reason to seek compensation, henceforth you will probably never see a penny of it. Loganair have created a complaints system which is so totally impenetrable they can simply forget you even exist.
So what, you might respond? None of those things have ever happened to me. Perhaps not, but the likelihood they will in the future has just increased exponentially.
As it appears, for example, that Loganair are advertising more flights than they have planes, which means for an increasing number of passengers they will be left sitting around at an airport they got to nice and early, to wait and wait for a flight that was never going to arrive in the first place.
Getting more and more frustrated at being fobbed off with stories (like how the weather in Manchester is delaying the plane from taking off, which proved to be totally untrue), until they finally call you several hours later to confirm it has actually been cancelled.
You are then offered three options: either a refund (which you’ll likely never receive); transfer to another flight later in the day (which will involve more waiting around, then heading off to yet another airport in the opposite direction, waiting there even longer, until eventually boarding a plane late in the evening back to your original destination); or a seat on the same flight the next day (which, in true Groundhog Day fashion, simply repeats the whole process over and over again).T
his happened to us recently, at Kirkwall airport.
Later you head to the complaints page on their website and make a claim for compensation. After which the waiting begins. Indefinitely it seems, because there’s no way of talking to anyone about your claim.
Welcome to Loganair, where We Serve You Right has come to mean exactly that.
