Man who brought £125k of drugs into Shetland jailed
A MAN who brought drugs with a potential value exceeding £125,000 into Shetland has been jailed.
Marc Kerr, from Muirhead, admitted being concerned in the supply of cocaine and heroin after being stopped by police on 29 November 2024 at the Holmsgarth ferry terminal in Lerwick.
The 32 year old was found to have roughly 500g of cocaine and one kilogram of heroin on him, both of which are class A drugs.
He admitted to being concerned in the supply of both drugs at a hearing at the High Court in Aberdeen.
Police officers searched Kerr while acting on intelligence that a man driving a white Ford Transit van heading north from Aberdeen was travelling under false details.
Kerr had booked on under the alias “David Swan”, but police found that the van was registered and insured to him.
A rucksack found in the front passenger footwell of the van was searched and found to contain a blue bag of white powder, and a green plastic bag of a brown powder.
These were analysed and found to be 498.7g of cocaine and 988.7g of diamorphine, or heroin.
The value of the cocaine was £17,500 if sold as seen, or £62,300 if divided into gram deals.
The heroin could have realised a value of £28,000 if sold in bulk, or £65,910 if it was divided into “tenner bags”.
Kerr was jailed for a total of six years and four months.
