Whalsay win first league title for 15 years

WHALSAY have won a first Ocean Kinetics premier league title since 2011.

The team ended their barren spell after a 1-1 draw with Celtic in a title decider at Gilbertson Park tonight (Friday).

The side from the Bonnie Isle went into the clash needing just a point to lift themselves above Spurs to be champions.

A win for Celtic would have made them champions instead.

Euan Irvine gave Whalsay the lead in the second half before Shay Regan equalised from the penalty spot, but Celtic could not force a late winner.

Whalsay can now make a great season even better in the Highland Amateur Cup final next weekend.
