Whalsay complete league and cup double

WHALSAY are celebrating a league and cup double after comfortably beating Lerwick Spurs tonight (Friday).

After winning the league for the first time since 2011, the reds went into the Fraser Cup final looking to end their season on a high after their recent Highland Fuels cup final defeat.

And within 15 minutes they were 2-0 up on Spurs – who were looking to continue an incredible trophy run in Shetland football.

A freak goal from Ethan Rathore at the start of the second half but the game beyond doubt, and Whalsay out the icing on the cake with two more goals to seal a comprehensive 5-0 win.

Whalsay retain the Bolts Car Hire Fraser Cup for a second successive year, while the defeat means Spurs’ end a season trophyless for the first time since 2009.
