Features / Sun shines on Spence’s special day
THE WEATHER gods were shining on Guizer Jarl Richard Spence and his squad at the Uyeasound Up-Helly-Aa on Friday.
Spence’s special day coincided with an unseasonally bright day – as is testified by photographer John Coutts’ image of the jarl at Norwick beach.
He and his squad paid a visit to Baltasound school, the galley being pulled into the playground, and the galley burning was followed by a concert in the Uyeasound Hall.
Coutts said the general standard of squads was getting better every year, with a squad of robots featuring in the 2014 procession.
