News / Police seek witnesses after car drives through red light

POLICE are looking to speak to anyone who witnessed alleged careless driving on the Esplanade in Lerwick in which a vehicle drove through a red light.

Officers said a maroon coloured car went through a red light with a pedestrian about to cross the road at around 12.45pm or 12.55pm on Thursday (29 August).

Another vehicle had stopped at the red light travelling in the opposite direction southwards.

This vehicle sounded their horn and there were other pedestrians at the bus stop opposite at the time of the incident.

Anyone with information regarding the incident is asked to contact Police Scotland in Shetland on 101 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555111. Alternatively they can attend in person at Lerwick Police Station, quoting reference number NL1129/19.
