Malakoff currently has a vacancy for a:

DESIGN AND MANUFACTURING ENGINEER

 

The position will be based in our technical office and will involve the specification and design of marine structures and components. The candidate will also lead the development and application of CNC manufacturing within the company.

 

The suitable candidate will have the following attributes:

  • Be educated to degree level (or equivalent) in an engineering discipline.
  • Be experienced in Computer Aided Design (CAD) and Computer Aided Manufacturing (CAM). Specifically, the candidate will have experience with the ‘Solidworks’ software package.
  • Will display a positive attitude, flexibility, and willingness to get the job done.
  • Will be able to work on their own initiative and as part of a team.

 

Ideally the candidate will also have the following attributes, however these are not deemed to be essential to the role:

  • Knowledge/experience in relation to structural design calculations.
  • Knowledge/experience of Finite Element Analysis (FEA).
  • A full, clean, driving licence.

 

The role would be suitable for someone with existing workplace experience or a recent graduate engineer. The company would also encourage students in their final year of a degree programme to apply for the role.

The company is currently undertaking a number of complex engineering workscopes including: linkspan refurbishment for Shetland and Orkney Islands Councils; jetty maintenance works at Sullom Voe Oil Terminal; fabrication, installation, and testing works at the SaxaVord Spaceport for Rocket Factory Ausberg; and production of a fully electric workboat.
