Paid for contentShetland drama back in town tomorrow

FILMING of the popular crime drama Shetland will take place in Lerwick tomorrow (Friday).

Cast and crew will be at the RNLI jetty and Lerwick Sheriff Court between 9am and 10pm.

Location manager Davie Gardner said: “The film crew will ensure access and parking for RNLI crew members and officials is maintained at all times throughout – especially in case of emergency.

“During this time a series of short ‘stop/go’ traffic management procedures [regarding] the general public may have to be implemented from time to time to ensure filming related operations are out in a safe and efficient manner.”

From 9am to 3pm, the production’s large support vehicles will be parked in the BT yard on South Commercial Street.

“We will require to keep the public parking bays adjacent to this yard on South Commercial Street (immediately across from the Lodberrie) totally clear of vehicles (bar disabled related ones of course) for the duration of filming,” said Gardner.

“We also plan to film further scenes at Lerwick Sheriff Court on Hillhead/King Erik Street on the same day, and while doing so a ‘stop/go’ traffic management system will be implemented and operating in the area.

“However, these particular safety and traffic control measures will only be applied while actual filming takes place and last no longer than a few minutes at a time.”
