News / Forced entry into wrong house
A CHEF from Lerwick who forced entry into the wrong house in an act of “drunken stupidity” while looking for a female has been fined.
Derek Moar, of Fogralea, admitted at Lerwick Sheriff Court on Wednesday to behaving in a threatening or abusive manner at an address in the town’s Sandveien on 17 September by breaking a pane of glass in an external door and forcing entry.
Procurator fiscal Duncan Mackenzie said there was no intention from the 33 year old to cause any alarm.
“He’s very drunk indeed…he’s gone to the wrong house looking for a female,” the fiscal said.
Sheriff Ian Cruickshank fined Moar £200 and ordered him to pay £61.14 in compensation to the local authority for the damage.
Meanwhile, a 19 year old man was fined £400 at Lerwick Sheriff Court on Wednesday for assaulting another man at a house party.
Thomas Drever, of Hoofields, admitted pushing the man onto a sofa at an address in the housing estate on 15 October and repeatedly punching him on the head to his injury.
Procurator fiscal Duncan Mackenzie said the incident happened at around 6.20am in the morning following a “petty argument”.
Driver, representing himself, said it was “just something that got out of hand”.
Sheriff Ian Cruickshank said “given your previous record, it’s a serious matter”.
