Family to hike up Ben Nevis in memory of Amy

Money raised will go to the Shetland Bereavement Support Service and first responders through the Scottish Ambulance Service

A FUNDRAISING family will come together next month to hike up Ben Nevis in memory of the late Amy Arthur.

Amy Arthur.

Amy, from Voe, passed away suddenly in October last year at the age of just 33.

Her dad Ian, uncle Billy, sister Iona, brother-in law Jamie and family friend Shona Drummond are now planning to climb Ben Nevis on 13 July in memory of Amy.

They will be raising money for Shetland Bereavement Support Service, which has supported the family, and first responders through the Scottish Ambulance Service.

Dad Ian Anderson said Amy was a “very friendly and bubbly person devoted to her family and friends”.

“Her death has left a very big hole in our lives,” he added.

“So to give us something to focus on we have decided to hike Ben Nevis in July. Fingers crossed for good weather.”

Located near Fort William, Ben Nevis is the highest mountain in the UK. Its highest peak reaches 1,345 metres above sea level.

At the time of writing around £3,000 has been raised so far for the charities, and people are able to donate online via this link here.

Special patches, badges and stickers created in memory of Amy will also be sold at the upcoming Simmer Dim bikers’ rally to support the fundraiser.
