Letters / Questions for the fire service
I am pleased that the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service promptly responded to my 3 August 2020 letter about the need for an aerial/height fire apparatus in Shetland.
Fire service says no plans at this stage for height appliance
I want to pose two questions for their constant review:
- Are the ladders on Lerwick apparatus capable of reaching the top occupied floors of the Anderson High School and the Gilbert Bain Hospital at every point around the building perimeter?
- The Anderson High School has a three-storey portion sandwiched between two four-storey portions. How would a fire on the roof of the three-storey portion be quickly extinguished?
