Location: Working from home, in Shetland. Driving licence and own vehicle essential to reach remote areas.
Job description:
Shetland News is an independently-owned daily online news service and agency that publishes the successful Shetland News website at www.shetnews.co.uk.
Serving an island community of around 23,000, we are now looking for an experienced and highly motivated reporter to further expand and develop our news coverage.
The successful candidate should have at least two years of experience of working in a local news environment including council and court reporting, can produce fast and accurate copy for a number of different formats and, ideally, has proficiency in producing news for social media platforms.
This is a unique opportunity to work in a highly competitive media environment that requires the successful candidate to quickly obtain a working knowledge in a variety of areas and industries such as fishing and aquaculture, as well as oil, gas and new energy.
The ideal candidate must be capable of working on his/her own initiative, investigating stories, and developing these through to publication. Experience in audio and video editing is an advantage.
