Letters / Shameful behaviour
There have been enough comments made on the boorish behaviour of the Green party during Nigel Farage’s visit, but just to add another incident which took place in Mareel’s foyer prior to Tuesday’s hustings.
A few of us were talking with Vic Currie, the Reform candidate, when we were interrupted by two Green party supporters.
We were taken aback by the verbal aggression we witnessed.
The young chap was making accusations of Nazism and raising issues of racism, until Mr Currie explained that he is of mixed ethnic background, with an Indian grandmother.
The above episode, along with the earlier behaviour demonstrated is shameful. We live in a democracy so please show respect to everybody, regardless of their political standpoint.
Two of the most important local issues for me in the upcoming election, are protecting our islands from further massive renewable projects and safeguarding our fishing industry, so it’s never been as important to vote wisely.
Realistically, I accept that the local election is a two-horse race so, for me, tactical voting will be required.
Hannah Mary is putting up a brilliant fight but is in the wrong party so will not be getting my constituency vote.
The list vote on the other hand will go to the party who I think will work best for me.
I enjoyed both hustings and well done to all the candidates for putting themselves forward and taking part.
