Letters / Your priorities are mine
First of all, I want to thank everyone who has taken the time to speak with me and my team in the last few months. Whenever I have been out on the doorstep people have been incredibly open and supportive, and that is the Shetland that I love.
Through all of it I’ve met with folk who are desperate that we get a new replacement hospital, who want to get our education working for everyone again and who want to keep our transport from being run down like the west coast.
Those are your priorities and they are mine as well, because I know what it is like to struggle, and perhaps to need a helping hand from someone along the way.
I got my degree the long way round after having my children, and worked in social care helping folk for many years. If you put your support in me, it is these values of hard work and care for others that are going to guide me.
Shetland has a huge amount going for us, but we still need to be able to help those who are most in need – and to prioritise what really matters.
That is why I am proud the Liberal Democrats are the only party to have put a full replacement of the Gilbert Bain hospital in our manifesto, rather than just another patch-up. Delivering on this really matters.
If you put your trust in me, I will work every day for our islands – and to put our priorities first.
