Letters / The same old game

British/Scottish politics has failed us since the evil Margaret Thatcher coined the phrase “There is no such thing as a society, only a collection of individuals”.

Boy does this phrase ring true today with the present political party system utterly corrupted and dishonest.

It is not so much the individuals in politics these days but the system they have to work with or are sucked into.

The dysfunctional, corrupted and dishonest top down driven abuse of our democratic system, it’s principles and integrity by corporations, billionaires and wealthy influencers, has turned British politics in both Cessminster & Holyrood  into the toxic self-serving mess it’s become.

Good individual intentions are powerless to shift the monster of corporate greed that has, year on year or administration after administration, paralysed the political governance of Britain.

Corporate greed that can only be changed for the better by its total collapse and dismantling, followed by full on reform to our political system.

There is not one party in the whole of Britain that aspires to reforms that would give us a chance to reset British politics and replace it with a bottom-up people’s parliament.

A people’s parliament which outlaws political parties and therefore cuts the head off the broken top down Influencer lead present elected dictatorship system.

A new people’s parliament would see individuals chosen and elected to represent their local areas with much more local control to decide their own needs and priorities and the elected members coming together to discuss and vote on national matters.

There is more that would enshrine better codes of conduct, clear job descriptions and accountability to their local constituencies, but I fear that the majority of those that still vote cannot see beyond the “turkeys voting for Xmas” or sadly the “voting for the least obnoxious party” syndrome that has, year on year destroyed any semblance of fair governance and democratic principles.

Pinning our hopes on a few individuals swimming in a poisoned and shark infested strictly controlled political pond, is in IMHO failing to see the reality. It doesn’t matter who has won as its game on again, in the same old game.
