Letters / A deeply rewarding job
While I’m obviously disappointed not to have been returned to the Scottish Parliament, I would like to thank all those who have supported me at this election and over my nine years as an MSP.
It’s been the greatest honour to serve the people and communities of the Highlands and Islands. It’s not an easy job – it involves long hours and hard work – but it is so important and is deeply rewarding.
I have always tried to represent all areas of our vast region equally. To ensure that all voices are heard. And that the unique challenges local communities and local businesses face were raised in Parliament and with a government that is too often focused on the Central Belt of Scotland.
The Highlands and Islands is my home, and I will continue to fight for it outside of Parliament. And to work with all those who try so hard to make it better.
I wish all those elected to represent our region all the very best.
