First ever Shetland food and drink tour launches
A SHETLAND-first weeklong food and drink tour has been launched today (Monday).
The tour, which is operated by local company Island Vista in collaboration with Taste of Shetland, will give eight guests the chance to sample the best of Shetland’s food and drink.
More than 25 Taste of Shetland members will be visited throughout the five day tour, with guests seeing where food is grown, caught, reared or made throughout the isles.
Each evening, the group will then eat what they have seen that day.
Guests will stay at Voe House, with professional cooks or chefs personally visiting them to cook some of their favourite dishes.
They will also dine out at some of Shetland’s best restaurants or in its community halls.
Island Vista owner Jolene Garriock said she could not wait for the tour to start.
“It had been a brainchild of mine for a while and then I finally launched in 2024, aiming to run it in August 2025,” she said.
“However, for various reasons, it didn’t sell and I was devastated.
“I decided to give it another go for 2026 and six of the eight places sold in the first hour. The remaining two places sold a week later.
“Nobody has done something like this before so it will be something unique.
“Shetland has so many wonderful food and drink producers and I’m so pleased that they will finally get to have their chance in the limelight.”
Some of the venues the tour will visit include Uradale Farm, Lerwick Distillery, Lerwick Fish Market, brunch with Blyde Welcome and Hensington Palace.
Garriock said that Voe House was the “perfect place for chefs to come and cook for our guests.”
“We will eat out on a couple of nights at restaurants that are known for using a lot of local produce and we will also have one meal in a community hall, giving guests another unique experience.”
