Letters / Your most effective MSP
I began my campaign by listening, something which I believe politicians from all parties should do more of. As someone who is not a career politician, I came into this to do things differently – and that starts with listening.
We have had the privilege of listening to thousands of people across Shetland – hearing your concerns, your hopes, and your ambitions for our islands. It was this listening exercise that led us to produce our local manifesto and the priorities I am standing on: tunnels, a Shetland Energy Act, a new hospital, affordable housing, an islanders cabin/vehicle quota on NorthLink, lower air fares, and so much more.
None of this will be easy. But I firmly believe that by electing someone who will be in the room where decisions are made, we give ourselves the strongest possible chance of turning these ambitions into reality.
What I can promise you is this: I will work tirelessly, every single day, for you and for the future of Shetland. I will stand up, speak out, and champion our islands.
Regardless how negative the opposition become in these final few days, we will continue to offer folk something to vote for, not against, we will continue to offer folk hope. We will continue to put forward our ambitious plan for our islands.
On Thursday, you have two votes. The first is for the person you trust to represent Shetland. The second is for the party that reflects your values. And those two votes might be different.
Please vote for me on 7 May. Together we can achieve so much for Shetland.
Thank you.
