Community / Motorcycle club raises funds to help two local children
ZETLAND Motorcycle Club (ZMCC) has raised almost £3,000 that will help two local children suffering from complex disabilities get access to better medical therapy and buy equipment that will benefit them.
The Super Carr Kids campaign aims to raise £20,000 to help Zak and Summer, who were born nine years apart but both suffer from a neuronal migration disorder among other rare medical conditions.
Zak’s has resulted in severe epilepsy and learning difficulties with problems with speech, swallowing and walking any distance.
Summer was born with multiple joint contractions which means she cannot walk unaided, lift her arms or open her mouth very wide. Both are helped with feeding tubes.
The ZMCC, like many other local people and organisations, have been raising funds to help Zak and Summer getting access to services like CK Intensives and respite to facilities that are familiar with their conditions.
The monies raised by the motorcycle club have come from through regular fundraising nights as well as a charity motorbike rally weekend held in August at the Vidlin Hall.
Donations towards the Super Carr Kids campaign can be made via this fundraising page, where there is also more detailed information on the kids’ medical conditions.
