Brae man acquitted of sexual offences following trial
A FORMER care worker has been acquitted of raping a woman and sexually assaulting a second woman in Shetland.
Colin Spall, 46, was found not guilty of committing three sexual offences by a jury during a trial at the High Court in Edinburgh.
Spall, of Brae, had denied two allegations of rape said to have been committed on various occasions, and a further allegation of assaulting a woman who it was said was asleep and incapable of consenting.
The charges alleged that they were committed at two different locations in Shetland between March 2018 and March 2023.
Spall told the court that after the accusations were made against him he went through “a wide range of emotions”, including shock, anger and disbelief.
