News / High winds cause more disruptions to ferry sailings
FERRY services are once again affected by high winds as another winter gale – this time unnamed – makes its presence felt.
The Whalsay service has just been suspended but is expected to resume again at 2pm from Laxo and Symbister.
The service on Yell Sound is down to one ferry, while the Bressay service has been suspended until at least 12.30pm.
Winds are expected to be at their highest around midday with gusts of more than 50mph.
NorthLink is operating both its passenger ferries tonight, however the southbound Hrossey will only depart Lerwick in the late evening and sail directly to Aberdeen where she is expected to arrive in the late morning. The Kirkwall call has been cancelled.
