Court / Confiscation order granted following drugs supply offence
A CONFISCATION order worth around £1,700 was granted at Lerwick Sheriff Court following a proceeds of crime hearing.
The order related to Alexander Chalmers, of Gott, who had previously admitted being concerned in the supply of the class A drug diamorphine on or between 5 and 12 May last year.
The 33-year-old had been given a community payback order for the offence.
The court had previously heard that nearly £1,700 in cash had been found by police following a search, as well as heroin and two mobile phonons.
At the time the consideration of a possible confiscation order was continued.
At a hearing on Wednesday, the court was told that it was agreed the benefits from crime in this instance was around £1,919 and that the available amount was roughly £1,699.
Sheriff Ian Cruickshank granted a confiscation order for the latter sum.
