Nature / Stunning video shows northern lights dancing over Lerwick
ISLANDERS were treated to another spectacular show of the mirrie dancers on Saturday evening. It started before it was properly dark and was even visible from Lerwick in spite of the light pollution.
Austin Taylor’s frontpage photo was taken in Aith at around 8.45pm with the almost set crescent moon in the bottom left corner.
The real time video clip on this page was captured by Taylor in his back garden in Lerwick.
He said: “This is a real time video, not time lapse as one usually sees. This has only become possible with the most modern cameras and a very fast lens over the past few years and, though I’ve tried it a few times, this is the first really good show I’ve captured.”
