News / Vehicle seized from 82-year-old accused of multiple offences
AN 82-year-old man has had his vehicle seized after allegedly committing multiple road traffic offences.
The man was stopped by police at Lerwick’s Market Cross at around 11.30am on Saturday.
Police said he had been accused of driving without a licence, having no insurance or MOT and fraudulently altering a vehicle registration mark.
His vehicle was then seized by police under section 165 of the Road Traffic Act 1988.
Area commander Chris Sewell said that keeping Shetland’s roads safe was a “priority” for him and his team.
“Driving without a licence, insurance or a valid MOT is unacceptable and puts other road users at risk,” he said.
“I am committed to taking robust enforcement action against those who show such disregard for the law.”
