Hill fire in the Westside

FIREFIGHTERS were sent to deal with a hill fire in the Westside on Monday afternoon.

Two appliances were sent to the fire on the hills between Sandness and West Burrafirth.

A Scottish Fire and Rescue Service spokesperson said: “We were alerted at 4.49pm on Monday, 1 April to reports of a hill fire near the A971 on Shetland.

“Operations control mobilised two appliances to the scene. Crews left after ensuring the area was made safe.”
