Community / Icelandic elf house catches the eye

ANYONE walking around the Clickimin Loch in Lerwick recently might have noticed a somewhat unusual new feature on the hillside.

A red Icelandic ‘elf house’ has been built into the side of the hill, complete with a door and windows.

It is the work of local man Paul Moar, who said he was inspired after seeing similar Icelandic elf houses on Facebook.

He said they are dotted all over Iceland and are a “great tourist attraction”.

Regarding the one at the Clickimin, Moar said: “I was going to do a photo shoot with it but then I decided to leave it for a couple of days for folk to enjoy.

“The reaction has been lovely and many folk have said they’d like me to leave it there so we’ll see what happens”.
