Young dancers put on ‘incredibly special’ show
NEARLY 160 young performers helped to put on an impressive night of creativity and talent at Inferno Dance Group’s latest show at the Clickimin on Saturday.
Dancers aged from between three and 17 took to the stage in the busy main hall for a show based on a theme of bedtime stories.
There were dances inspired by a range of stories, from The Gruffalo and Paddington Bear to The Boy in the Striped Pyjamas and Wuthering Heights.
There were eight teams of dancers performing across more than 30 routines through the evening, with slick changeovers and costume changes needed to keep things running smoothly.
The dancing itself was impressive to watch, with the audience left in no doubt about the many hours of practice the groups have put in over many months.
It also linked impressively with some eye-catching lighting and stage props – and even some blasts of a smoke machine too.
Looking back on the show, Inferno’s Jenny Teale said she “couldn’t be prouder of every single dancer”.
“Seeing them shine on stage and share something they’ve worked so hard for was incredibly special,” she said.
During the event she said Inferno was more than just dance classes – with the group a “family” of young people who have gained new friends and have increased their self-confidence.
Inferno’s dance show takes place every two years, with the group hosting weekly classes during term time.
