Paid for contentShetland filming to head to Nibon on Friday

SCENES will be filmed for the upcoming series of TV detective programme Shetland at a property in Nibon tomorrow (Friday) from 8am to 9pm.

The crew have requested, and been granted, an official closure of the unclassified public road (branching off the main A970) into the location at the end of the Nibon road during the above hours in order to safely and effectively manage traffic and carry out the filming.

However, it is currently envisaged that this will not extend to a full closure of the road at any point – with residential access being regularly maintained, although the road may be subject to a ‘stop/go’ traffic management system at various times throughout the day.

Locations manager Davie Gardner said: “Here again though any ‘holds’ applied to traffic movements during that time will extend to little more than a few minutes at a time – primarily to allow us to move production related traffic in a safe manner on this narrow stretch of road.

“Also note that you may encounter our technical support vehicles parked at various safe points along the road, especially towards the end of the road and at the adjacent turning point.

“We ask that this be kept clear for safe turning and traffic management at all times.

“Rest assured we will endeavour to keep any impact, disruption and inconvenience to an absolute minimum at all times, with the maintenance of access to local residential and business related properties our priority – including for purposes of animal/livestock welfare too of course.”

As part of this same filming process a larger ‘unit’ of production related vehicles will be located on the site of the Zetgas compound near the Gunnister/Nibon junction from late evening tonight (Thursday) until late on Friday.

“Again we aim to keep any disruption, related noise and any inconvenience to an absolute minimum,” Gardner said.

“However, please be aware of increased traffic movements in the area relating to this and on the Gunnister/Nibon road itself throughout this time.

“Thanks once again for your co-operation and patience in this respect.

“Should, however, you have any issues with these proposals please contact Davie Gardner – Locations Manager – Shetland on 07867 654 509 or Andy ‘Mod’ Ross – Assistant Location Manager on 07963 713 446.”
